eal-life sweethearts Angel Locsin and Oyo Boy Sotto might not have immediate plans of settling down but by the looks of it, they are planning to end up with each other anyway.

At the press conference of Regal Entertainment and APT Productions' latest suspense-horror "TXT" where Angel and Oyo co-star with Dennis Trillo, the lovers admitted they are serious about each other.

"Yes, Angel is very much a wife material. How you see her on TV is all there is to her, she is that real as a person," Vic Sotto's son told the media Wednesday night at the Imperial Palace in Quezon City .

When the Manila Bulletin asked Angel to comment on what Oyo Boy said, GMA's hottest female young star who has been involved with the young actor for one year and seven months now replied, "Wow! Sinabi niya yun? Nakakatuwa. Well, husband material din naman si Oyo. I feel very protected with him. Tsaka siya yung tipo ng lalaki na napaka-responsible. Nag-iipon talaga siya. Kahit noong hindi pa kami, nag-iipon na'yan."

Oyo avoided questions regarding his dad and rumored girlfriend Pia Guanio saying, "Yung sister ko (Danica Sotto) ang mas nakakasama niya," but was open about his thoughts on Dennis Trillo who was once part of Angel's romantic past. "Angel and I never hid anything about each other because we were friends before naging kami. Wala namang problema lalo na with Dennis, sobrang okay kami kahit sa set ng pelikula."

He added that he had been used to seeing Angel do scenes with other guys specially after "Mulawin," "Darna" and "Majika"—all of which Angel starred with Dennis as her leading man. "Sanay na ako kaya wala nang problema sa'kin yun. Wala nang selos sa onscreen partners ni Angel."

Meanwhile, Dennis and Angel admitted once and for all that they had been an item before and their relationship lasted for months. "We never tried to deny anything," Dennis disclosed.

A man's most precious possession

Laurice Guillen's comeback movie in 2000, Tanging Yaman, proved once again how good Filipino filmmakers are in depicting true stories about themselves. I consider Tanging Yaman the best of all the Metro Manila Film entries I have seen so far as it truly touches Filipinos' hearts.

The movie captured real situations common to Filipinos – how religious we are, how important it is for us to keep our families intact, how the economic situation in our country prods family members to work abroad.

Tanging Yaman also showed how important the role of wives is in keeping the family together and how the cliché "blood is thicker than water" runs true, despite differences among family members.

These situations, to name a few, were depicted in the film. However, the value of "family" touched me the most.

The story unravels when siblings Danny (Johnny Delgado) – the kind eldest but poorest among the three left to take care of their ailing mother, Art (Edu Manzano) – a driven and ruthless brother, husband and father and Grace (Dina Bonnevie) – an imposing wife and mother who lives in the US reunite to settle a land dispute. Their mother, Dolores "Loleng" Rosales (Gloria Romero) succumbs to Alzheimer's disease.

Separated by distance physically and emotionally, old resentments begin to surface to the point of spilling over to the next generation. The siblings cope with Loleng's sickness and deal with a dispute over a tract of land left to them by their deceased father. Hilda Koronel and Cherry Pie Picache played the role of committed and loving wives to Johnny Delgado and Edu Manzano, respectively. Jericho Rosales, Marvin Agustin, Carol Banawa and Janette McBride, on the other hand, played Danny, Art and Grace's children.

As what really happens in any Filipino family, the movie revealed several scenes – the most unforgettable of which is the heated argument between Danny and Art while other family members watch in panic.

In the end, the mother has to intervene to stop the fight. And, as in true-to-life stories, an unexpected incident ( Jericho almost gets trapped in a strong typhoon after leaving his family because of an argument with his father) brings family members together.

The story ends with Danny and Art settling their differences, Art valuing his wife and son more, Grace and her children, going back to their home in the US and respecting her husband's role as the head of the family.

As we grow up, family members go their separate ways and leave their first home behind. But whether we like it or not, there will always come a point in our lives when we will go back to our past – to our family. It could be during family gatherings or reunions, during the distribution of wealth or the settling of disputes.

Whatever the reasons are, we will always come back because we will always value our most treasured possession – our family.
