hen three acclaimed performers come together in one motion picture for the entire family, it's certainly triple celebration. Such is the case with Regal Entertainment's "Happy Hearts," which brings together, for the very first time, Rustom Padilla, Wendell Ramos and Jean Garcia.
All three are known for being real actors and not just names on a marquee. Rustom has played offbeat roles, including being the villain in Chito Roño's "Yamashita, A Tiger's Treasure" and more recently, the charming Ada in Joel Lamangan's "Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah." Jean, for her part, evolved from a teenybopper to become a performer to reckon with in both in TV and the movies. Like Jean, Wendell also started in youth–oriented flicks but, lately, has been noticed for his fine acting skills. One of Wendell's breakthrough performances was portraying the convict–turned–good guy in Joel Lamangan's "Sabel."
Another common denominator of the three is their knack for comedy. They are among the very few in showbiz whose talent ranges from the highly dramatic to the extremely comic. Director Joel Lamangan, Regal Entertainment executive producer Mother Lily Monteverde, producer Roselle Monteverde–Teo and supervising producer Manny Valera immediately thought of them when they were casting important roles for "Happy Hearts."
As a professor who must keep his gay identity a secret to protect his son, Rustom, if you will, shows the true mettle of a man is not in his sexual preference but in keeping to his responsibility of a father.
Jean does a hilarious turns as a woman in search of a husband, who, hopefully, wouldn't turn out to be gay unlike her first.
As Rustom's devoted live–in partner, Wendell is very understanding and lovable. One almost wants to hug and embrace this hunky guy who feels hurt each time Rustom tries to hide their true relationship.
There's a lot of fun each time one or two or all three of them are on screen in "Happy Hearts." Rustom, Jean, and Wendell simply love their craft and their passion is evident in their characterization. Reviewers and personnel applauded the trailer of "Happy Hearts" when it was reviewed at the MTRCB. The members of the press were also very delighted when the trailer was unveiled at a recent press conference.
"Happy Hearts," which is also stars fast–rising love team of Shaina Magdayao and Rayver Cruz, makes its way to everyone's hearts when it opens in theaters nationwide on March 14.
