erfectly describes model Gail Nicolas—both mind and body!
Laguna is about an hour or so away from Manila and yet it has retained much of its rustic appeal in the face of urban sprawl. The town of Paete , for example, is the Mecca of wood-carved religious statues and furniture building.
Another serene-atmosphere town, Liliw, is likewise a stunner. The equivalent of Marikina in the metro, Liliw houses Laguna's finest shoemakers. Not to mention, their hidden batis with waters so cold it could literally freeze storage-temperature beer.
Yes, beautiful Laguna. And FHM is now a Department of Tourism brochure—but only because we had the privilege of shooting luscious Gail Nicholas in its lovely environs.
A model and music video veteran, Gail added beauty to an already inspiring setting, as well as shed light on a number of sexually challenged man.
According to Gail, men who wear lipstick and eyeliner, have a vanity kit, and are cheap dates are not to be frowned upon.
We tend to disagree, but that is not for us to do now. We have to concentrate well on Gail before we question our own sexuality…
We had to travel all the way to Laguna for this shoot, hope you didn't get tired and all.
Not at all. It was a fun shoot. It was along travel indeed but it was worth it kasi maganda yung layouts.
It was about three years ago when we first asked if you wanted to grace our pages, why the initial hesitation?
I wasn't ready pa at that time. Around that time I wanted to be known as a wholesome model. I only started doing sexy shoots last year when I posed for the RAN calendar. And besides I'm already 24 so it's about time I started focusing on other facets of modeling. Hindi na puwede yung pa-tweetums tweetums.
You were a part of the recent Jollibee TV commercial. So do you really like it fast-food, that is?
Actually I've already done two commercials for them na, the first was in 2004. I love fast food, even for a date. I'm not picky.
Not a fan of candlelit dinners?
Of course I still am. That has always been a part of being romantic. But it doesn't mean na every time ganon ka-bongga dapat yung date.
Also endorsed condoms, right?
Yes, I was part of Frenzy's campaign ad around 2004. I think it also ran a couple of times in FHM.
So does that mean that, if we searched your bag at this very moment, we would find a packet or two of rubbers?
Ha ha! Actually I have a lot of stash at home. They gave me boxes and boxes of condom after that ad, they even told me that if I ran out I could ask them for more.
Aside from doing TV and print ads you're also pretty active in the music video scene. What's the latest one you've done?
The one that's airing now is the video for Gloc 9 and Francis M.'s song “Lando.” It's a story of a rich girl and a poor guy, the male part was played by my boyfriend. But sadly, I die in the end of it. So medyo sad story siya.
Before that was Parokya ni Edgar's “Papa Cologne .” It must have been a riot acting in such a wacky setup.
Sobra. I played one of the girls who were snubbing the video's bida when he stil wasn't using Papa Cologne. Nagpapa-cute na kami sa kanya after he sprayed it on. Ha ha!
Do you like guys who smell nice?
I do. I also like vain guys. Regularly checking yourself out is not a turn-off for me. Kasi I like to ask questions like, “Is my makeup okay? Does my dress look nice?” There are guys na, if you ask them about that they'll just say, “I don't know anything about that because lalake ako.” So it's better for me to be with guys who could respond to my probing.
Even guys who have their very own kikoy kit?
I see no problem if they have one. I like a man who makes it a point to be presentable.
Fair enough. What should every man have in his kikoy kit then?
Toothbrush and mints are a necessity, especially if they smoke. Actually I don't consider guys who have press powders a turn-off. Sa iba it's so gay but for me it just shows that the guy is conscious of how he looks.
A press powder, really?! How about an eyeliner, mascara, or worse, lipstick?
Kung eyeliner lang it's okay kasi there are some guys who prefer that kind of look. It depends, I would understand if he's a model.
Fine then. We heard that you're a blogger. What do you usually write about?
That was my problem when I started doing my blog, I had to think of what I would put in it. Finally I decided to make it a sort of catalog of the work I've done. But I was already into diary-writing way before blogging came in.
Interesting. And what's the most embarrassing entry that we, if ever, can read in your diary?
Actually it was through that diary that my mom found out that I was already starting to date. As expected, pinagalitan niya ako.
What exactly did you jot down?
I was about 17 then, so, of course, yung sulat ko started with, “I'm with my honey…” Ha ha! Buking na buking ako. When I started that diary detailed entries talaga, it was later on when I started putting codes kasi nababasa nga.
Would you ever revert to writing one again? Say, a sex diary?
Ha ha! If it would be password-protected, I would write about anything talaga.
