ENEATH her glam gal looks and showbiz trappings lies the heart of a fearless maverick. Nancy Castiglione has always managed to balance her active lifestyle with a healthy dose of extreme sporting adventures. For her, nothing comes close to the thrill, excitement and the heady adrenaline rush one gets from living life on the edge.
These days, the alluring actress seems to have found her ultimate thrill behind the wheel – deftly navigating circuitous road tracks while gliding, slithering and careening into graceful, lithesome skids that seem to defy physics. The art, aptly called drifting, has been elaborately chronicled in the movie ‘Tokyo Drift,' and has since triggered a rush of drifting exhibitions and races among rabid fans worldwide.
The relatively new sport has made a headstart in the Philippines – thanks in large part to the efforts of Philippine drifting pioneer Dave Feliciano, together with his wife Paula and drift champion Alex Perez. The trio owns and manages the Clark, Pampanga-based DMF Drift School . Dave also operates a performance shop in the Katipunan area that specializes in setting up cars for drifting – the only shop of its kind in the country.
To further drum up interest in the spot, DMF Drift School has chosen Nancy as its female celebrity endorser.
“I've always loved cars,” she confesses. “Back in Canada , I used to drag race. And when I saw ‘Tokyo Drift,' I just thought that it was so cool! So, when this drifting event came up here recently, I got to try it. During the first ride, I was just screaming my head off with joy. It's the best feeling in the world! It's even better than drag racing.”
“It's harder than it looks,” Nancy continues. “You have to have coordination controlling a car that's going out of control. You're spinning while you're flooring the brake and gas.”
Nancy is also enjoying her newfound calling as a TV host. She's currently hosting Makisig Network's ‘At Your Pleasure Nancy,' a talk show on men's pleasures every Wednesday night from 7:30-8:30 p.m. on SkyCable's Channel 76.
The recently reformatted show finds Nancy doing a travel documentary of sorts as she explores gizmos, itineraries and other male curiosities. To date, the show has featured various novelties found in Binondo, Intramuros and other parts of the metropolis.
She is also PLDT QIK's “It” Girl. The tech-savvy lass is promoting PLDT DSL's Quick Install Kit (QIK) by embarking on a nationwide school tour to promote affordable DSL connection to the youth. To date, she has visited Cebu Doctors University , Central Philippine University in Iloilo and is slated to appear in other universities in Cebu, Iloilo , Laguna, Bacolod , Batangas, Cavite , Tarlac, Baguio and Davao .
The stunning Fil-Canadian is Maxim Magazine's cover girl for January 2008. She is also featured in Gran Matador Brandy's latest TV commercial, “Tuloy Ang Init.” Nancy 's fans are in for a big surprise when she makes a startling revelation early this year.
Nancy is currently managed by Arnold Vegafria's ALV Talent Circuit. - -
