nne Curtis is emerging as a young actor of tour de force performances on screen. She talks about her amazing body of work. And then some.

Anne Curtis has done it twice with us. She's game to do it again for the third time. A third cover for UNO… hmmmm. We imagine that'll be the time other men's magazines will be scrambling to cut in on the chance (a fact that's been around for since we can remember). And why has the most beautiful cover girl today chosen to do it with UNO first and second time around? “It's a different men's magazine, I keep telling people close to me.” We genuinely, sincerely, love this girl, whether she would've said that or not. Incredibly grounded, always the… er, un-diva (we like coming up with new words lately) in an industry peppered with huge egos and inversely proportional star quality among the young. The new up-and-comers can learn a great deal from this beautiful person, by the way. And she looks great—really great—lately. She strides in, the sport, looking all country-boho in cut-off denim shorts, white tank top and black vest, and gamely takes on three editors on varied topics. She's always been out No-Problem-Girl. And in this interview, she takes on three UNO editors and talks about a lot, including—among other things—deconstructing bad underwear. Us lucky bastads.

So much has happened since we last spoke about your plans to build yourself a house.

And now, I just moved in! I had time to be alone—which is good—I have a lot of time for myself. I really appreciate, you know, watching TV. Just your own time and you get to think. Being on top of electricity bills and disconnection notices. Haha!

O, we get that a lot.

(Laughs) Yeah, it's pretty hard, but part of growing up. Every now and then, I make mistakes. Now, when I go to the mall I don't look at clothes. I just go straight to the house stuff.

How's this shoot different from the first one you did with us?

Well, I really don't think twice about ding the cover. I just wanted it more faccione, that's all.

Would you do it for a third time?

Yeah! Basta fashionable pa rin!

What would you tell other celebs who plan to pose?

I would tell them to: go for it! I mean, it may be a men's magazine—you know, I told director, “Look at the content of it, it's not all about men's desires or fantasies or whatever.”

Are you in love? You look alright.

Talaga? No, I'm not in love. I think it's because right now I have a more—I know this sounds cheesy—personal relationship with God. So now, it helped the way I think—perception, even the way I control my temper. It really helps.

When was the last time someone commented that you looked really hot?

Tagal na. Wala pang nagsasabing sexy ako.

Hmmm. Wala?

Well, someone did say I had a nice body, pero di ko na sasabihin kung sino.

Awww. Come on. Clue?

No-ooo.

Showbiz?

No-ooot saying… (giggles) Haha!

Last guy who threw you a look that said he liked the way you got your guns on?

Vhong Navarro. He always says, “Anne Hot-away (Hathaway) tayo ngayon ah.”

Favorite belt out I-don't-care-if-my-voice-sounds-like-I'm-being-electrocuted song?

It would have to be: “I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing.”

And the best place to sing this song? Except the bathroom.

Videoke. Because, if given the free time, we all hang out at friends' houses.

Who gets to hog out the mic the most?

If it's not one of my friends, I'm always second. Because I'm a song master. (Laughs).

Fill in the blanks: I totally such at…

Singing.

I'm actually very good at…

Laughing. Talking. Haha!

When I decide to be wicked, I would wear…

Something comfortable, but… I go for sexy but elegant eh. That's what I like. But it has to be comfy, so that's kinda hard. I'm more of the tight jeans with a silk black top. It makes it look sexy.

I know I shouldn't have ____ but I did it anyway…

You know what? I'm always one who believes in having no regrets for anything. Panindigan mo kung ano ginawa mo and learn from it. And live with no regrets.

What's your current state of mind?

I have peace of mind.

You are one of the biggest, finest actresses, yet you have this attitude that's inversely proportional to your celebrity. What would you tell young divas?

I'd tell them more of, in terms of people on the set. We have people there who came before you, four straight hours and yet they're the ones who don't get time to rest kasi after scenes we get to go to our standby areas to sleep. Sila, they have to change set-up. So you threat them nicely. And don't arrive late. And don't act like a primadonna, because even the catering, they try hard to make a good menu with the budget that they have.

When was the last time you were truly, truly happy?

Today. It's true!

You've mentioned you liked Rex Navarette. Can you quote him?

“What's uporya?” Haha!

Okay, let's see you throw one…

Knock knock? I'm kidding. Haha! No, no! Corny lahat ng jokes ko, papagtawanan niyo ko e. You guys will laugh at me.

That's the point of a joke. Okay, just tell us the corniest joke you've heard?

Okay. Ano ang mabilis na pagkain? Sopas! Ano ang mas mabilis na pagkain? Pasta! Ano ang hayop na namamaril? Pating! Pating! Pating! Haha!

Looking for a new career, Anne?

Haha!

You wouldn't be caught dead wearing what?

Ugly lingerie. Yung hindi terno yung pangit. That's why they always say it's important for ladies to have proper underwear because what if you get into an accident or something…

Define ugly.

Pangit! I mean bacon or whatever. Haha!

What do you think makes you controversial?

Siguro because I don't hide anything.

Any early acting parts that make you cringe now when you look back?

Of course! Mga outfits ko palang! Haha! “What were you thinking?” It's more of pictures I'd say, not roles, kasi all the roles naman I love—it's just the outfits. Jogging pants with a tube top and rubber shoes, feeling hip-hop. “What were you thinking?!”

Are you a sucker for cheesy lines or gestures?

I'm cheesy eh, so yes.

Hmmm. Such as?

Simple things lang, like before I would think it's a pick-up line but now… like a simple “I'm here for you no matter what.” Yung tipong kadiri pero kikiligin ako.

What's the cheesiest line or gesture you've encountered?

Hmm… No. (Laughs hard)

Kahit vague details lang.

Di pwede e. O ito nalang, di siya romantic eh but it's from my best friend: si Manzano. He took a picture of me while I was sleeping and he said… ano yun? Basta the point was he wanted to say, “I'm always near you.” He's my best friend in the whole world na tipong if at a certain age wala pa siyang asawa and ako walang asawa, papakasalan ko yun.

You've never been to Divisoria?

I've been once to the parang mall. A long, long time ago.

How much shopping money do you usually bring?

Feeling ko P5,000, okay na ko e.

What is one thing or lesson that keeps you grounded?

I guess the key to it is just always remember that you are a child at heart. That keeps you grounded. And you always have to listen and obey. Kasi if you feel, “I'm old enough…” wala. You're bound to make mistakes over and over again.

What is it about Claudine [Barretto] that you admire?

Ang gusto ko kasi sa kanya, she's like me, totoo. She's not primadonna. And pag galit siya she doesn't hide anything. Yung hindi siya nagse-secret.
